We're Legal

Warren and I got our marriage license yesterday and met with Morgan to go over the ceremony. Just two more weeks to go. I can't believe it. Where has the time gone? We also met with our DJ to go over songs and the NYE countdown and ball drop. It's going to be AWESOME!!!

Missing Lynchburg

I can't believe the holidays are here again. We will be spending Thanksgiving with my family this year since Warren will be concentrating on finals and my family is in town. It seems like just yesterday that we were getting ready for the trip to Lynchburg for Turkey Day last year. This year is much different. We won't be making the trip to Lynchburg for Thanksgiving or Christmas, and I'm a little sad about it. I really get along well with Warren's large family--multiple cousins and all, and I was looking forward to the present swap again this year. We'll have to wait until the wedding to see the Lynchburg Peeps. We made sure to add Jack Daniels to the bar in honor of Warren's Lynchburg ties. We will be spending Christmas Eve and morning with Warren's mom, sister and brother-in-law in Cartersville...good family, good food, flowing wine, and a game of Dominos. What more can you ask for? Happy Holidays!

Seven weeks to go

Seven weeks from tomorrow Warren and I will be getting married. Pretty much every weekend until then has something wedding related on the calendar. I'm still very excited, and can't wait for the bridal shower this weekend. I went to my first dress fitting last weekend. The lady I am trusting with my alterations, Lucy, speaks very little English. She's a shorter lady, so I felt bad as she was armpit height trying to pin my dress up. I begin to wonder what my problem is when it takes me longer to decide on an american or french bustle than it did to pick out my actual dress. Luckily, I had my trusty wedding planner, Lindsay Cordell, with me to help make that decision and to help zip up the dress. Lucy made sure to tell Lindsay C. to come back for my next fitting. So, thank you Lindsay for all of your help. And I'm praying for Lucy to work her magic on the dress as they ordered it way too big.

The wedding is next month!

I was starting to get a bit stressed thinking the wedding is next month, so I took Friday off work and got a good amount of wedding related things done. My mom and I made a trip to David's Bridal. After my previous trip to Bride Beautiful being a complete disaster, I was fearing walking into David's. Taking a day off and visiting on a weekday is the way to do it. There was only one other bride to be in the whole store trying on dresses. I had the whole shoe section to myself and a person to help me. So, I found shoes, a bra, a purse and a garter. We then headed to New Natalie's Bridal to try my dress on. After four months of waiting, my dress had finally arrived. So, the lady at New Natalie's helped me into my dress. I asked if she had zipped me up, and she said yes. The dress then fell off me. It's probably three sizes too big. Seriously???? Why even bother to measure me if you are going to order the dress three sizes too big? So, now I start my fittings this weekend. I was told alterations take 6 weeks. Hooray! So I won't really know what my dress looks like on until 2 weeks or less before the wedding.
On a more positive note, I went to my friend's mother's house to decide on a veil length. Mrs. Upton has offered to make my veil as a wedding present. So, I tried my friend's veil on, and it's so beautiful, so I'm using that as a guide for mine. Tomorrow night I'm meeting with the Classy Chicks string trio to pick out ceremony music, and Saturday Lindsay C. and I are going to Michael's to get decoration ideas for the reception. I feel so much better now about having things done. Invitations have been mailed, and now I'm excited to see who will be coming. I am so lucky to have such great friends and such a sweet fiance helping me through all the planning.

Bride not so Beautiful

This past Sunday my MOH, Kelley and I went to Bride Beautiful to look mainly for shoes. I also am still looking for a purse, garter, and some other misc. accessories. I had heard good things about this store, and after looking on their website, was really excited to visit. I walked in, and my mouth dropped open. There were people EVERYWHERE. I don't really like crowds, and it was a madhouse. I immediately froze in the doorway with a panicked look on my face. I stepped into the store and just kind of stood there in awe of what was going on around me. I said out loud "why are there so many people here" and a random girl at the shoe table (later to be my shoe enemy) said "they are having a major sale". I immediately thought to myself "surely not this many people are getting married".
But then I remember how most brides are...most people take up to a year or longer to plan their wedding. So, these were the Spring of 2009 brides who were in there trying to find the perfect dress. I just wanted to find shoes--closed toed for the winter. Apparently I should have been shopping for those six months ago because I'm having a hard time finding any. So I went over to the shoe table and started looking around. My shoe enemy kept cutting in front of me to look at the shoes that were out for people to try on. She had brought her dress with her to try to match the color and was taking up way too much space. I gave it about five minutes, turned around and left. I've now decided that the best thing to do is to take a full day off of work and get all the remaining accessories in one outing. Hopefully the stores won't be as crowded on a week day.

Tuxedos and Rehearsal Dinner---Check!

After many different vest/tie combinations, the groomsmen attire has been picked out. I can't wait to see Warren in his tuxedo. So, groomsmen, it's time to get fitted at Men's Wearhouse. We are also putting a deposit down at Wildfire Grill for the rehearsal dinner. I'm so glad we are getting things checked off the list. Click here to see the menu:

Dresses are ready!

Just called New Natalie's and the bridesmaid dresses will arrive this Friday (see pic above). I can't wait to pick them up and see how they look on the girls. My dress will be ready in two to three weeks, and my mom and I are going shopping for her dress tomorrow night. I'm going to try to get a few wedding related errands done this weekend. This month will get busy towards the end of the month as bridal shower and wedding invites will be going out. Wedding invitations will be in the mail in about three weeks---CRAZY!!! I'm still getting the question: Are you excited? Yes, I'm still incredibly excited about marrying Warren. We make a great team.

100 Days To Go!

I told Warren I would write a blog when we were at the 100 day countdown. Well, here it is. 100 days to go before I'm Mrs. Thomas. There are days when I feel like we still have lots to do before the wedding, and other days I feel like it is still far enough away that I don't have to worry about getting everything done any time soon. The bridal shower date is set for Nov. 15th at my maid of honor's house and the bridesmaid luncheon is going to be in the KatyDid room at the Swan House (see pic). Bachelor/Bachelorette party plans are still in the works as are the plans for the rehearsal dinner. Everything is coming along nicely :) In other news....the vet found a cancer spot on my dog Tally. My parents adopted Tally when I moved in with Warren, and my mom has grown especially attached to her. Tally will have surgery next week to have the tumors removed. Please send out your prayers.

P-M-C/S

Warren and I started our PMC on Saturday (pre-marital counseling). Probably not the best week to start it as I was in high PMS mode and sensitive to everything. I flat out told the therapist "I'm a cryer and it's that time of the month". So, when he asked Warren to describe why he fell in love with me, I was thankful there were tissues within arm reach. Our initial visit was us telling the therapist our story, how we met, how Warren proposed, our challenges as a couple, etc. As this is an out of pocket expense on a super tight budget, I'm hoping we get a lot out of it. If any of you want to know how I have been feeling for the last week, watch this and hold onto your hats.... http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/annuale/221774/

Rock Band

This weekend Warren and I picked up our wedding bands. Mine has 9 beautiful diamonds across..... Check it out! I danced out of Solomon Brothers with a stupid grin on my face hugging, kissing, and thanking Warren. We keep chipping away at all the planning. We met last week with Morgan to go over the flow of the ceremony. This week we are meeting with Katie to pick out our invitations. Piece by piece, it is all coming together. Still over 100 days to go. I'm really enjoying this time of being engaged. Life with Warren has really been clicking well lately. This weekend was one of my favorite weekends in a long time. We went out Friday night with a group of friends and then watched football most of the day Saturday together and then I spent most of yesterday at a tennis match. Monday mornings always come too quickly!

Birthday Girl!

I had a fabulous birthday yesterday despite the horrible cold I've had. It started in the wee hours of the morning when I heard Warren whisper happy birthday to me since he came to bed after midnight. I briefly woke up then went back to sleep. When I got to work, my coworkers came into my office to sing happy birthday to me and I had a birthday sign posted to my door. I met up with Warren, Morgan (who will be marrying us) and her hubby, Robert for lunch at Golden Buddha--one of my favorite lunch spots. Then I headed home to relax the rest of the afternoon. My night ended with a wonderful date night to Fritti for dinner and then Yoforia for dessert. If you haven't been to Yoforia, you need to go. It's yummy frozen yogurt with many toppings to pick from. When we got home, I still had a present to open :) My future hubby likes to take care of me, and I really appreciate all that he does. Tonight we are meeting up with a group of friends to continue celebrating. So happy where this past year has taken me.

Just call me sneezy

The weekend was a lot of fun at the GA game, but somehow I caught a cold. Despite my attempts of fighting through it with a dose of Airborne last night, I have sneezed more times than I can count today. I may just need to stop by the store and get some NyQuil. I'm a huge fan of doping myself up in order to make it through a night of sleep when I have a stuffed up nose. Maybe I'll try to go to bed early if I can pull myself away from the Wii. Last night my mission was to make it to pro status on the tennis game before going to bed. I did it! My arm hurts from playing many hours last night, and I have real tennis practice tonight. I better rest my arm before my match this weekend. I hope to feel better by Thursday...my birthday!!!

Two months down, a lifetime to go

Last night it just hit me that Warren and I have officially been living together for a little over two months (though I started nesting much earlier). I'm all settled in and pretty much unpacked (all but one box that remains on top of the book case in the dining room--no clue what's in there). And my curling iron mysteriously disappeared sometime during the move. This is it, my home for the next 3-5 years. I love the location and how close I am to work. And on a good day I can make it to my parent's house in 10-15 minutes. Tomorrow we are getting up early and headed to Athens for the UGA vs. GA Southern game. This time last year Adam was prepping me for what was about to happen. I was about to meet the crazy UGA fan, WarrenT. A year later I'm going to the games as the crazy UGA Warren's fiance, and next year I'll go as Mrs. crazy UGA Warren. I'm ready for many more years of the crazy UGA fans, and maybe many years down the road we'll be watching one of our own become a UGA grad. How fun!

The Reason for the Season

It's football season! That's right, this Saturday UGA takes on GA Southern. I went to a small college with no football team, so when I started dating Warren, I adopted UGA as my team. I must say I was a good UGA football fan last season. I learned all the cheers, wore cute red and black outfits, drank numerous beers at the tailgates, and even ate a burger or two at Big Dawgs! This season will be just as fun I'm sure. Even though W has started law school, we still plan on going to at least two of the games (maybe 3 if I can talk him into it). Goooooooo Dawgs!

Love Note

Wanted to brag about what a wonderful fiance I have to anyone who reads this blog. This morning as I was packing up my purse for work, I found a sweet and loving note Warren wrote to me last night. He got home from the library after I had already gone to sleep. I've gotten to a point where I can sleep through basically anything including Warren coming home late at night. God forbid a fire or burglar because I would sleep right through it. I can't wait for tonight as W and I are staying in and enjoying each other's company. He's goofy, caring, serious, smart, and I love him.

Days to go: 133

The knot.com has a countdown of how many days until you get married. Today's number is 133. It's the first time I really thought about how many days until our wedding. I can't decide if that's a long time or not. I like to think of it as a little more than 4 months. Since someone posted my engagement announcement up at the bulletin board at work, random co-workers and people I don't even know have been congratulating me and asking me about the wedding planning. My answer is always "everything is pretty much taken care of". They seem shocked when I say that. I don't see how it takes some brides a year or more to plan their wedding. The only part that takes time is ordering the dress and waiting for it to be made. So, I continue to try to find little wedding planning details on a daily basis to do. Monday I printed out the DJ's list of songs and started high lighting songs I really like. Today I e-mailed the Hilton Garden Inn to make sure they know we need a shuttle to run back and forth from Villa Christina to the hotel. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but it is also lots of fun. I can't wait for the big day....just 133 days away!!!

Oh Captain, my captain!

Fearing that I would be bored when Warren was busy studying for law school, I volunteered to be the captain of my tennis team this season. Practice starts next week and I'm already freaking out about all that being captain requires. I have to attend a meeting on Saturday, collect dues and coaching fees, set up the coaching, pay the coach, see when people are out of town and come up with a line-up each week, go to each match and turn in the score card. I guess it won't be all that hard, but it's my first time. Between two tennis teams (ALTA and T2), poker nights, wedding planning, and Warren's law school, we see each other from about 10:00 p.m. until I go to bed around 10:30 p.m. It's the best half an hour of my day! We are going to try to block off Wednesday nights as an "us" night...just like when we were dating :) Thanks to Warren's sister, Tara, we are the proud owners of a Wii. I plan on having many Wednesday night Wii tournaments. If anyone wants to buy us RockBand as a wedding present, I won't mind.

It's Friday!!!

I had a nice long lunch with my fiance and wedding coordinator/friend/Warren's old co-worker also named Lindsay. I'm now waiting until I can't wait any longer to leave work and start the weekend. I'm seriously debating on going for a walk with my mom or going straight home to relax. I love walking with my mom after work, but I hate the Atlanta traffic and having to sit on I-85 to get from my parent's house to my new home. I'm also debating a much needed pedicure after the beach trip and a manicure since I will be showing off my new ring this weekend. We are headed to Cartersville for Paige Miller's engagement party. Paige is a life long friend of Warren's who will be getting married in April 2009. We haven't seen Paige or Josh since the half marathon in March. I'm also looking forward to seeing Tara (my soon to be awesome sis-in-law and one of my lovely bridesmaids). I'm really looking forward to the weekend. It's been hard being back at work this week and having to get out of bed before 10:00 a.m. I sure do miss vacation.

Back to work

I'm home from the beach and back to work :( Which means back to wedding planning :) This week we put deposits down for the ceremony music (string trio) the DJ and the get away car (1956 vintage Bentley!!!) Check it out here-- http://www.awhite-rollsroyce.com Before leaving for the beach we booked our honeymoon. I'm really looking forward to being back at the beach at Sandals Royal Caribbean in just a short 4 months from now as Mrs. Thomas. I think I may have people start calling me "LT" (similar to LC on The Hills). It has a very nice ring to it!

Vacation!

We are relaxing at the beach!!! Warren is sitting next to me on the couch playing texas hold 'em on our new I-Pod touch while I'm surfing the internet and blogging on his new Macbook. All of this with our patio overlooking the ocean....We are spoiled! This is a much needed break as the wedding planning stress was getting to me and the thought of quitting Warren's job and starting law school next week was getting to him. It's been nice to spend lots of time together as I fear that once school is in full swing we may only see each other for a short period of time each day. We are headed off to Bayman's Wharf in Sandestin tonight for some crab legs and rum runners. There's nothing like finishing the night off at the Whale's Tail right next door to our condo. We still have another full day and night ahead of us. It's been a great week, and I'm thankful that I have someone so special to enjoy it with :)

"Be reasonable"

When I first started talking to my parents about a wedding budget, they had no idea what to say. I started just randomly throwing numbers out there to see if I could get a solid number to stick to. I never was able to get a firm number on it; they just told me to "be reasonable". What? Is all I could think. What does "be reasonable" mean? It's frustrating when I'm trying to book vendors for the wedding. Is $x,xxx "reasonable" for live music during the ceremony? I'm trying to cut costs as much as possible with things like buying bulk flowers and having a friend make the arrangements, but it's starting to stress me out. Give me a number people!!! I'm going to ask once again tonight if I can have a solid number to budget with. Wish me luck!

First Wedding Present!!!

My mom just called and said we received our first official wedding present shipped to the house. With the amount of presents we registered for and the little space we have in the condo to put everything, we put my parent's address as the shipping address. I'm so excited to open the first present. I already cheated and looked at the registry, so I know what the present is, I just don't know who it is from. My plan on tackling thank you notes is to write them as the presents come in, so I'll have a thank you to write tonight. We have already received three engagement presents, but this is the first real wedding gift. So strange to think that people are already buying gifts this far in advance. They are also already booking their hotel rooms. In case you haven't seen it yet, check out our webpage www.lindsayandwarren.com I'm mighty proud of it :)

The boys are back in town

Warren and I spent most of yesterday cleaning up the condo since Adam was coming back into town. He has been at GHP in Valdosta all summer, and I must say Warren and I were most excited about going to our Sunday night hang. When Warren said that Adam was almost home, I quickly put "beers on deck" (three beers in the freezer) so they would be ready for his arrival. We had a great night at The Albert with Adam and Lynanne....we hadn't skipped a beat. Last night was so much fun, but I now have a case of the Mondays :(

New Year's Eve Wedding???

When I told my parents that Warren and I picked a date, they were so excited. Then, when I told them it will be on New Year's, my mom's first reaction was "Lindsay, NO!" She said that people would be going to New Year's parties, and then I said.....yeah they will, they will be coming to OUR New Year's party. The more we talked about it, the more my parents fell in love with the idea. I couldn't tell you how many times my mom has told me that her friends are so excited for New Year's now.

Wedding planning is in full swing. So far we have booked the ceremony and reception site and the photographer, and we went wedding band shopping last night. We had a great engagement photo session with Lori Gordon www.shootstarphoto.com and our Save the Dates are in our guests hands as I type this. To those of you who didn't get a save the date, I'm really sorry. Warren and I went back and forth about the guest list numerous times. The reality is we had to draw the line somewhere. We want a guest count of around 150, and with Warren's large family and our combined popularity, it was hard to narrow down the list. Last week we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond and Macy's. Warren really loved doing this with me. He seemed the most happy when he was in control of the laser gun.

There is still much more to do before the big day, but I think for now we have a good handle on everything. Still to do is flowers, DJ, Tuxedo rental, limo, alterations, etc. If I name everything on the to do list, I may freak out. Thank you to my future hubby for putting up with all of this crazyness. I know it can be stressful. I just know it will be all worth it when we are ringing in the new year as a married couple with our friends and family.

I gave in to the blog world

Ever since meeting Warren, I promised myself that I wouldn't start a blog. Why would I want my life's story circulating around in the Cyber world for all to read? The more I started reading other people's blogs, the more I was enjoying it. My fiance is often on his blackberry reading blogs, and I figured I would give him yet one more blog to read. As I continue to plan our wedding, I figured this would be a good place to update friends and family on wedding planning so I don't have to repeat myself numerous times. Let the blogging begin...
